Mark Dekanich

Exposed to the realm of strength and conditioning as a teenage, multi-sport athlete, Mark Dekanich built a successful 10-year professional hockey career out of using functional fitness to improve his performance, on and off the ice. Mark has worked with some of the top strength and conditioning names in British Columbia throughout his hockey career and draws inspiration from a dedication to excellence in all aspects of life that was instilled in him at a young age. Playing in his second season in the BCHL as a 17 year old, Mark was offered a full-ride athletic scholarship to prestigious Colgate University where he excelled as an NCAA student-athlete. Over the course of his 4 year college career, Mark set 10 school records for the hockey program, in addition to several others in the weight room, was drafted in 2006 by the NHL’s Nashville Predators, and graduated in 2008 with a BA – Major in History, Minor in Sociology & Anthropology.

Post-graduation, Mark joined the professional hockey ranks where he went on to play in the NHL, KHL, AHL, and ECHL all the while learning and evolving his off-ice strength and conditioning programs to better suit his needs as a goaltender. Now a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the Head Strength & Conditioning coach of Pro-Formance Goalie Schools, Mark is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of business people, weekend warriors, and elite athletes alike. Whether you want to be able to keep up with your kids, pick up your grandkids, score more goals in beer league, or dominate the competition in your select sport, Mark puts his vast experience and knowledge to work in getting you to your goals and has coached and programmed strength to 10-year-old hockey players, 76-year-old grandmothers, and everyone in between.

Mark currently resides in North Vancouver, BC with his wife Elizabeth and their two sons Ascher and Max.
